Itinerary

  • Day 01: Arrive in Guwahati - Drive to Shillong (110 kms, 3 hrs approx.)

    Upon arrival at Guwahati Airport or Railway Station, begin your scenic drive to Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya. Nestled among rolling hills and known as the “Scotland of the East,” Shillong offers a climate distinct from the tropical zones of India. Check into your hotel, relax, and explore local waterfalls and the British-influenced architecture. Overnight in Shillong.

  • Day 02: Shillong – Cherrapunjee – Return to Shillong (60 kms, 2 hrs each way)

    After breakfast, drive to Cherrapunjee, one of the wettest places on Earth. Visit the awe-inspiring Seven Sister Falls, Nohkalikai Falls, Mawsmai Cave, and Eco Park, and enjoy the stunning views of the Bangladeshi plains from the cliffs. Take a detour to Shillong Peak and Elephant Falls before returning to Shillong for the night.

  • Day 03: Shillong – Bhalukpong (310 kms, 6-7 hrs approx.)

    Post breakfast, set off for Bhalukpong, a quaint town on the southern Himalayan foothills in Arunachal Pradesh. Known for its adventurous activities like fishing and river rafting, Bhalukpong also boasts attractions like the Pakhui Game Sanctuary and the Tipi Orchidarium. Overnight in Bhalukpong.

  • Day 04: Bhalukpong – Dirang (160 kms, 4-5 hrs approx.)

    After visiting the Tipi Orchidarium, continue your journey to Dirang. Explore this picturesque Monpa stone village, which feels untouched by time except for the main road cutting through it. The ancient Dirangs Gompa and fortified walls on the steep hill add to its charm. Overnight in Dirang.

  • Day 05: Dirang – Tawang (150 kms, 5 hrs approx.)

    Travel to Tawang, passing the majestic Sela Pass at 14,000 ft and the Jaswant Garh War Memorial. Sitting at 3,500 meters, Tawang offers mesmerizing views of the Gudpi and Chong-Chung Mi ranges, the Tawang Chu River, and the valley. The majority of its inhabitants are from the Monpa tribes. Overnight in Tawang.

  • Day 06: Explore Tawang

    After breakfast, visit the historic Tawang Monastery, a 400-year-old structure that ranks as the world’s second-largest monastery. View the vast collection of ancient artefacts, books, and manuscripts. Later, head to the Tawang War Memorial, a vibrant tribute to the soldiers of the Sino-Indian War of 1962. Enjoy a free evening exploring Tawang. Overnight in Tawang.

  • Day 07: Tawang – Bomdila (180 kms, 6 hrs approx.)

    After breakfast, depart for Bomdila. Explore this administrative centre of the West Kameng district, known for its Buddhist monasteries, apple orchards, and panoramic Himalayan views. Spend the afternoon strolling around the town. Overnight in Bomdila.

  • Day 08: Bomdila – Tezpur (160 kms, 4 hrs approx.)

    Travel to Tezpur, a town adorned with well-maintained parks, picturesque lakes, and views of the Brahmaputra River. Despite being a practical stopover, Tezpur’s charm and tranquillity provide a refreshing break. Overnight in Tezpur.

  • Day 09: Tezpur – Guwahati Airport/Station (190 kms, 3.5 hrs approx.)
